It's been a while since my, "Best Paladin Healing," articles on gems, but I'm finishing up the series here with a compilation of the best enchants for any Paladin that finds themselves healing.
Restore Mana Prime
The list of cloak enchants for healers is fairly slim. Unless you need a particular resistance enchant for some reason, 2% reduced threat is probably your best bet, though Paladin healing is inherently low threat, so don't bother spending money on this enchant until you've got everything else covered.
While the MP5 and HP5 from Vitality is very nice, some fights may (see Gruul's) may require a bit of moving around, and the increased run speed, along with the stamina, may be good for survivability and mobile fights. Personal preference is the deciding factor in this case.
Spellsurge, while at first glance is really great, is a bit confusing. While the tooltip gives a 3% chance on spellcast to restore 100 mana to everyone in your party, testing has shown a 15% proc rate with a 30 second hidden cooldown. To be honest, I'm just not sure about this enchant, and it is quite expensive. Personally, I'd rather go with the simple, yet powerful, +81 healing.
While not as good as the above enchants, it is much cheaper, and may be the enchant of choice for a Paladin who finds him or herself healing as an offspec.
Restore Prime Mana
All of these are fairly cheap, so selection should reflect where you feel your gear is weakest (Major Intellect is probably the weakest of the three, however).
If for some reason you can't afford the epic version, Silver Spellthread can be much cheaper, though obviously not as good.
Greater Inscription of Faith
Greater Inscription of the Oracle
If you're not yet exalted with either the Aldor or the Scryers, Inscription of Faith and Inscription of the Oracle are your best bets.
Glyph of Renewal
Available at revered with Thrallmar for the Horde.
Hope this list helps.
